Favorite Boss Yokai: Zazel

You can never find a more loyal yokai then this guy, according to the manga adaptation of the second film he was once a villager but he was murdered (though I don’t remember the pictures well). Once a loyal servant to King Enma he saw his decline in his views that humans and yokai should be separate, a rage mode with lots of tentacles and with his two followers Duke Doggy and Aristocat fuses them to become Zazelmare. But when Nate and Haley Anne summon Lord Enma together he beats the snot out of Zazelmare and realize that Lord Enma’s point of view is the right one, and now I headcanon him as either a father or a big brother figure to Lord Enma.

Favorite Recolor: Shadow Venoct

Venoct is so powerful that his Shadow becomes his own being, if a creepy cameo during Whispers dream as Katies partner. In Blasters his character has expanded that he’s so loyal to Katie that even a slight stain on Katie’s Jacket is unacceptable to him and destroy all condiments in a restaurant. Hope he appears YW4 with Kaites alternate self.

Favorite Fusion Yokai: Dragon Lord

The thing that stood out to me is it’s child form Draggie getting a role in the first game, while cute and shows off it’s map powers, poor little guy never did much since, which leads me to think that Draggie might have a bigger role in the video games and maybe the anime. Sadly both Draggie and Dragon Lord never appeared in either manga and anime as far as I know, and one of the few recolors I wish will appear in Shadowside to give both of them justice.

Favorite Fully Evolved Yokai: Alhail

I just like his design and ice powers. Nothing much to say really, also sorry if the days are a bit mixed up, the chart is out of order and I didnt check the numbers. (that and I wanted to talk about Lord Enma) 

Favorite Single Stage Yokai: Venoct

Venoct first started out as sort of a guard to Luces and protect him from harm, then in the anime he’s driven by revenge cause Rubeus J destroyed his village, In Yokai Watch 2, formerly known as the serpent he messed around with the villagers (possibly a tamer version of the Rubeus J thing) then King Enma (I think) beats him and he promised the King to protect humans and Yokai. What a versatile dude. Love his voice in the Japanese version, love his design and he gives me Ichirouta Kazemaru vibes, and he’s quite the animal lover in Shadowside.

Favorite Legendary Yokai: Komastar

Just for the sheer fact that he beat Hinozall for best newcomer, I mean beating THE God in the Yokai is quite the impressive feat. Now that I think about it since komasan won best yokai in the inspirit awards, I wonder if Yo-kai Watch would be a bit more successful if they push Komasan as a mascot, since the western world, or at least America like dogs more than cats, or will Yo-kai Watch be doomed to niche hell. Something to think about.

Favorite Rare Yokai: Lord Enma

Out of all the Yokai throughout the games and anime, Lord Enma is by far the most complex character. I mean Lucus, a young boy as far as we know is actually his uncle, one of King Enma’s daughters got a male heir first, thus he inherit the powers, causing panic throughout the Yokai World, must’ve gotten a lot of flak with the adults. but in the end he wanted yokai and humans to live in peace, even sneaking around to the human word to learn more about them and the Yokai who hang out on earth. and proving himself in combat like beating Zazelmare, and destroying the Enma Note, but still has his childish ways like not doing his paperwork, loving candy, and throwing a halloween prank bash. Yeah he’s my all time favorite yokai and I hope we get to learn more about him in Forever Friends (not sure if his new appearance is him in the past or a result of time travel he looks more like his shadowside counterpart) and hopes he returns from whatever he and Zazel are doing after the 4th movie. 

Favorite S-Rank Yokai: Jaou Kaira

He’s the first known Yo-kai Watch to be a hanyou and hopes that there’ll be more half human/half yokai characters to expand on the concept on how both yokai and humans feel about them. Despite that he somehow convinced the Seven Sages and overthrow Lord Enma which sadly we didn’t get to see, it would of been an awesome battle, but the one we get to see I considered one of my favorite fights of all Yo-kai Watch. I hope we can see more how he rules the Yo-kai world and have a bigger role in Shadowside and fuse with Lord Enma again to become Yami Enma in the show

I wonder if Kaira is playing soccer disguised as a certain human in that other Level 5 franchise? Nah!

Favorite A-Rank Yokai: Rubeus J

This Cat owns a floating demon castle with minions, that’s just badass. The closest we can get to evil Jibanyan, and unlike most bosses in Blasters when he gets knocked out he blows up. In the Anime version he follows orders from Hardy Hound, (sort of Evil Komasan) and is responsible for one of my favorites, Venoct to be a Yokai

Favorite B Rank Yokai: KJ

KJ is Komajiro embracing the party style of city life and the defining thing that separates him and Komasan. He’s an example natural cool and doesn’t feel like he’s trying too hard, but at the end of the day when bullies pick on Komajiro for his country lifestyle, Komasan activities his big brother instincts (the only other example I can think of is the first Christmas episode), by tripping and accidently pwning the builies to kingdom come and Komajiro is grateful. I just love the brotherly chemistry of those two

Favorite C Rank Yokai: Whisper

This butler makes the silliest of faces. He tries his best to be a good yokai butler but due to his knowitall powers he has to use his Yopad to hide his powers from Nate, and his time as Whispocrates with Shogun Waitington is Yokai Watch at its most heartwarming, making the anime much more than a gag show which range from toilet humor to brilliant meta humor and great use of adult jokes at times. In the end despite being a punching bag due to poor toy sales on his character, he finally gets respect in Shadowside even working for Lord Enma for a time, and he deserves all the happiness he gets.

Favorite D rank yokai: Komasan

Komasan is the embodiment of pure innocence and his skits are always the highlight of the original anime. Whether it’s Koma Taxi, going around Japan, trying new jobs, and facing against store owners, or just exploring the city, he and Komajiro have a unique relationship that the younger one is the more experienced and mature one of the two. I like to think the original komas in Shadowside are driving the Koma Taxi hoping to find Zundomaru and Sendō Rei and teach them on what they did is not appropriate for some Kodomo anime. Tee Hee

Favorite E rank Yokai: Originyan

Even if the US will only get one version of YW3 (which I hope NOA doesn’t go that route) I can’t wait to create my very own cat yokai like Pokenyan (Pokemon), Sakkanyan (Inazuma Eleven) Cardboardnyan (LBX), Puzzlenyan (Professor Layton), Choconyan (Snack World), Level5nyan (L5 as a whole), maybe even Hinonyan (Akihiro Hino)

The possibilities are endless 

Favorite Slippery Tribe: Azure Dragon

Not only do I love Dragons but Azure Dragon is a pretty powerful yokai thanks to the speediness of slippery, it’s torent like skill and an attack all three soultimate move, I’ll always make sure to include him in my Yokai Watch team. Oh and I like both his Shadowside and Lightside forms as well

(aww his lightside is dancing in the second ending and hoping this form will make a proper Shadowside appearance 

Favorite Eerie Yokai: Arachnus

As far as Doughnuts are concerned I love both but I lean more towards custard (If there is an army that prefers chocolate filled doughnuts I join in a heartbeat) I loved his more serious and down to earth personality and both of us love sweets (even though he doesn’t like spicy food) and his design including his monster one has more appeal to me than Toadal Dude and I hope both will appear in Shadowside.
