It’s my Birthday
In celebration i’m doing India1771′s Professor Layton Question Tag thingy so here it goes
1. Favorite game?
Actually it’s a bit of a toss up between Last Specter and Azran Legacy. Last Specter is because I love origin stories and I played the game like 7 times (American, English, and Japanese) and Azran Legacy because it was a huge step up in terms of world building/ expanded on the lore of the Laytonverse. I just wish the dialogue would have been altered a bit to fit the American script. (see my review here)
2. Least favorite game?
I REALLY dislike this game so much. The way they dumped the first trailer for some reason, the designs are just your average modern anime, they recycled plot points form the first four games, the that NOA just ported the European version instead changing the scripts, and everyone accepts that its canon to the rest of the Layton games (I hate the whole everyone must share the same universe ala Marvel, Multiverse FTW) See mt review for more reasons here
3. Favorite male character?
Hes the little guy that got me into Layton in the first place. I just like how cute he is, he is just the most innocent and purest character i’ve ever seen in any form of media, not to mention his unexpected bravery (Last Specter, Eternal Diva, and Azran Legacy have great examples)
4. Favorite female character?
She is like the one of the few female characters to have a backstory in the series, she’s kick ass, and complements Luke & Laytons School Smarts with her street smarts
5. Favorite side character from Curious Village?
I like Chocolate and Sweets, he likes Chocolates and Sweets, Thats all I can say.
6. Favorite side character from Pandora/Diabolical Box?
Ilyana has like no shame that she is hitting on Luke Triton, like how did get past the radar is beyond me. (I wish there was a similar character in Inazuma Eleven series, Danball Senki series, and Yokai Watch but i’m evil like that)
7. Favorite side character from Lost/Unwound Future?
I used to be a game show freak back in the day, (back when Game Show Network was good) Minus the whole ding ding ding tick Max has
8. Favorite side character from Last Specter/Spectre’s Call?
Toppy is the cutest mice behind Pikachu and he is a cute little spy for Luke;s oracle abilities and help the gang escaped from the police station. Quite an important animal that mouse.
9. Favorite side character from Miracle Mask?
I really loved the interactions between Luke and your chosen bunny as it really showed off his animal talking abilities and struck me that before Layton, Luke is more comfortable with animals then he does other people (but thats just my theory)
10. Favorite side character from Azran Legacy?
I know Brenda first appears in Last Specter, but her character is greatly expanded on in this game. She is a unique mother to say the least, then that she wore that outfit to her and Clark’s wedding anniversary and collects little trinkets and is studying for a degree in something.
11. Least favorite characters from any of the games?
A little fact about me, I normally don’t really hate any fictional character no matter how unlikable they are. Mostly because they don’t affect me in real life, the Storyteller on the other hand, he just really anger me to no end by not sending her daughter and friend to years of therapy and instead made this elaborate little la la land in which he brainwashed people to the point that they don’t know there real selves anymore and got away Scott free cause he’s sick. (I used the proto version cause I like the design better)
12. Favorite piece of music from any of the games?
Sorrowful Destiny, mostly because it captures the hopelessness of the situation, clouding it into darkness.
13. Favorite function from the trunk?
The Trunk episodes. Showing the happenings of the smallest of characters really builds to the laytonverse and you get to learn more about them even if Layton is not around. (I wish that Inazuma Eleven, Danball Senki, and Yokai Watch butt oh well)
14. Favorite location from any of the games?
The Nest. I like the whole the city is a dump Noir type of thing, I like the classic city design from the golden age of cities. Reminds me of Detroit.
15. Chelmey or Grosky?
Inspector Grosky is so lively and his incompetence so hysterical that I always chuckle every time I see him.
16. Don Paolo or Descole?
Jean is actually a villain that is cunning, smooth, and actually puts up a fight with Layton. Don Paolo to me is more of a Wario ripoff. (Now I want a drawing of Takuto Shindou dressed as Jean Descole)
17. Flora or Emmy?
Emmy for the above reasons mentions. I just wish they handled Flora better rather than slapping her on because Moe bait I guess
18. Dropstone or Folsense?
Folsense in its prime and under Ore hallucinogens because I always get attracted to lively cites
19. Molentary Express or Laytonmobile?
The Express because when I go on a long trip, I want somewhere to sleep into.
20. Original Trilogy or Prequel Trilogy?
The Prequels because their more character and lore driven rather than the originals.
21. Puzzles or Storyline?
I prefer Storyline, but mostly for the characters and lore.
22. If you could visit any of the countries in Azran Legacy, where would you go?
Does the Azran Countries count? now I want an MMORPG to take place during that time
23. Thoughts on Eternal Diva?
it’s the film that got me into Professor Layton in the first place, (heck even Level 5 in general) so its a great film that can get you into the games like me.
24. Opinion of the 3D design?
I’m one of the few people who doesn’t mind the 3d design, sure it looks better for the Inazuma Eleven Go series but its artstyle fits it better.
25. Are you looking forward to Lady Layton?
Honestly I’m looking forward more towards Ares than Lady Layton, mostly because I hope if it became a trilogy they go all Crises on Infinite Earths on the multiverse for a epic soccer match (I’m also fine with two earths if they don’t) but i’m looking forward to Lady Layton for fun.
26. What do you hope they change and don’t change with Lady Layton?
I’m not sure about that, but I hope that the episodic approach works for it, and maybe have Lady Layton travel into different Level-5 franchises to search for the professor and maybe solve some cases in these dimensions along the way.
Now my as this is written my birthday is past (November 27) but thats my thought.
