Shadowside And Why It Can’t Be Canon

I wouldn’t be so against Shadowside if the conditions of it’s happening ACTUALLY MADE SENSE.

Hear me out; apparently Nate can’t see the Yo-kai anymore because he grew up, right? But there are PLENTY adults in both anime and games that can see Yo-kai? Nate’s Grandma for one, with the marble in her glasses.

Not to mention, THIS GUY

The American, Jerry. He’s not the brightest, but HE IS ABLE TO USE NATE’S OLD YOKAI WATCH

Clearly an adult, clearly using a Yo-kai Watch, CLEARLY able to SEE and INTERACT WITH Yo-kai.

So, no, I don’t hate shadowside. The idea actually looks pretty cool. But why can’t you do it with Nate? Give him a consistent personality, have him hang out and have adventures with the other Watch Holders (we never found out what happened to Yuuto after the second movie). At least give a plausible reason for Nate to have forgotten about Yo-kai, or have him secretly help his kids on their adventures. Don’t use half-baked excuses to justify a reboot and change main characters bc you just couldn’t be bothered with the “average” you currently have.

FINALLY, someone who can see what’s wrong with Shadowside! Thanks for acknowledging this from the get go! Guess I may be the only one who notice the ridiculous decisions Level-5 made to Shadowside. And to be honest, it could have been a nice addition to the franchise if it weren’t for them using that horrible trope from Peter Pan 2, canonize the incest couple that’s been shoved in front of everyone’s faces, and make one of the 3 MCs it’s daughter of that same couple! This is horrifyingly intolerable! And I always thought Shadowside is NOT CANON. No connections, just a standalone show. So to summarize, I HATE SHADOWSIDE and I HATE CANON EXTREMISTS!

So it has come down to this. Yo-Kai Watch has now become infected with genwunners. I shall bring my defense to Shadowside. I view it as canon to the video game versions of Yo-Kai Watch, not the anime since Jerry and Yuto don’t appear in the games, but that just leaves Hailey Anne, what’s her fate? 

My headcanon is that she joined the YBI with Joshua and investagie yokai happenings around the world with Usapyon by their side (maybe he’s one of the few yokai unaffected by the lightside/shadowside thing) I just want Joshua to get more screen time.

One more thing the whole Nate and Katie are near incestious couple cause they look like cousins.

 I expect that kind of illogical nonsense from the Layton fandom. Just because they lookalike doesn’t mean there related, like hello ever heard of doppelgangers. That’s like saying the playable character from B/W, B/W2 and S&M (if you don’t give the ladder a haircut) are related because they look alot alike (isn’t that a common trope for uncustomizable NPCs?)

Then again if I argue against a shipper or a genwunner, I choose a shipper, because even though the millatent ones have gotten much worse over the years *coughgen4Voltroncough* I want to believe that there just a very loud minority and the more sane ones but still take it to seriously can be easily ignored. Genwunners on the other fan can affect franchises outside of fandom and can actually influence the directions the product will take and will actually shame you for even liking the thing that comes after the first like your not a true fan or something and contribute absolutely nothing to the fandom except unnecessary drama and misery. 

Inazuma Eleven is diseased by them, Pokemon is plagued by them, (especially the anime) and I’ll be damned if I Iet Yokai Watch suffer the same fate. I shall die on that hill named Shadowside even if it means getting called a newgenner at best, or accused of not being a true fan at worst. I’m a Level-5 fanatic (blind or not) and I’m damn proud of it.

Glad I got that rant off my chest. Just wait til Shadowside is finished and Yo-Kai Watch 4 is released then gave it a fair judgement.
